Functional materials session is for the original contributions to research on the synthesis, behavior, and characterization of functional materials. Functional materials are designed to make use of their new functionality to respond to change in electrical and magnetic fields, physical and chemical environment, etc. These design considerations are functionally different to those relevant for structural materials. Functional materials play an increasingly important role in the development of the field of materials science and engineering. This session covers the theoretical and experiment studies of functional materials, such as the characterization and new application related research on the functional materials in macro, micro, and nano scaled material science and engineering.
