Refractory metals are defined as metallic elements with melting points around 2000°C and higher. This includes Tungsten, Molybdenum, Tantalum, Chromium, Niobium, Rhenium, and their alloys. Also, hard materials means materials having a high level of strength and durability under the severe environment. This includes tools of ceramics (carbides, nitrides, and borides), the superhard boron nitrides and diamond, and related compounds.
Refractory metals and hard materials are an attractive and potential option for the high-temperature and high-pressure applications. This symposium will address alloy design, recent advances of manufacturing process, mechanical properties and applications of refractory metals and hard materials as well as associated coating systems (not include intermetallics and coatings on steel substrates). Highly qualified Specialists related refractory metals and hard materials will gather for discussions that provide new information on technical progress in this symposium.
